Parpas chooses Siemens' Teamcenter to optimize product lifecycle management

Parpas management evaluated product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions based on functionality and performance. The choice fell on Siemens Digital Industries Software’s Teamcenter because of the proven reliability of the solution. “Teamcenter was offered as a standard package by Tech-Value, a Siemens Digital Industries Software partner that has supported us for several years” says Daniele Marcato, CED Services (Consulting, Engineering and Development).
“The implementation of Teamcenter was smooth, particularly the integration with SolidWorks”.

Unlike the previous PDM system, the use of Teamcenter has helped Parpas simplify file management for all types of documents. The development process begins in the design phase, with the bill of materials (BOM) generated through Teamcenter. The BOM is then transferred to the ERP system to facilitate production planning.

The strong integration and openness that Teamcenter provides with DIAPASON enable direct navigation and two way synchronization with the ERP system. Teamcenter also manages access permissions via web clients, helping Parpas leverage a specific function for managing preferred suppliers.
“Teamcenter is currently accessible to about fifteen suppliers” says Marcato, “who can access it via the web and download drawings and specifications for their activities. We installed licenses for seventeen designers and enabled viewing access for staff working in purchasing, production, the plant, warehouse, and quality control. We have made every effort to provide direct access so that authorized personnel can view and print documents”.

In addition to CAD data generated using SolidWorks, all historical CAD resources have been imported into Teamcenter, along with documentation produced by the engineering department.
This includes purchase specifications, technical and sales documents, metrology reports, machining operations, assembly sequences, and work instructions.

This information is available in multiple formats, including Portable Document Format (PDF), Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets, and image files.
